How long have you been in private practice?
How long have you been in your current office?
What has changed the most about your space?
I’ve collected and curated items that are meaningful to me and create a soothing, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing look. I have shifted from things to fill the space to pieces that fit with the office, with our culture (warm, caring, nurturing, inspiring), and with our brand/website aesthetic so well that it makes it all flow together.
What is you favorite thing about your office?
I love my plants. I think they bring the office to life. I also love the artwork. I’ve carefully chosen each piece to help extend a sense of feeling at home in our space. I want all of our clients to feel safe, nurtured, and at peace as much as possible, and I think that the office decorum can help establish that
What makes your office unique?
I think the smell, plants, color and textures stimulate peoples senses and make them feel comfortable and calm. I love when people sit down, exhale and tell me how the space makes them feel calm, peaceful and relaxed and they wish they could stay in it all day. I’ve also had clients take pictures for Instagram :)
If you could sum up your space in one word, what would that word be?
A therapy session inside Anthropologie :)
What advice do you have for others as they are creating/updating their offices?
I think simplicity, textures and small updates and refinements are important. I would recommend soft lighting and lamps (no overhead lights!) and always having live plants inside it to bring life to the office. Unique pieces are important and you can continue to refine and recycle as you go on. I would also advise people to think about the message they want their office to convey. Your office is really an extension of you/your services/your brand as a practice, and you want to be intentional that it represents that. I also always invest in high quality Anthropologie candles to burn to make it smell
